Top 5 most common phobias in my EFT practice

A question I get asked a lot by clients is 'what are the most obscure fears or phobias you have dealt with in your practice?'. While I have dealt with unique phobias I wont list them as it doesn't feel appropriate for my clients to be able to recognise themselves in this blog! I can however list the most common phobias that people come to me with.
1. Aviophobia. Without a doubt the most common is flying. I have dealt with countless flying phobias which is hugely rewarding. There are those who simply wouldn't fly and those who made themselves do it but suffered for weeks before hand, took prescription drugs to get through the flight and then dreaded the flight home throughout their trip. It's a great feeling knowing that clients have been freed from this and to know we've opened up a whole world of travel for them and their families.
2. Motorway driving. It may not be the first thing that springs to mind for most people but it is very common and of course incredibly limiting. This can range from fear of slip roads to a general fear of going on the motorway.
3. Exam stress. I have worked with both adults and kids with this one. I find in this situation people self sabotage; the fear is so overwhelming that some have decided they will fail before they even see the paper and so don't even give themselves a chance. Taking that fear away allows them to study with a calm mind and likewise take time and care in the exam.
4. Needle phobias. Another very common one which can be very straightforward to deal with in both kids and adults.
5. Ornithophobia or bird phobia. This is another limiting one as it can turn people into recluses. Until you actually think about it you probably don't realise that we are never far from a few pigeons in our path and that stops some people from leaving the house.

You are probably wondering where the arachnaphobia is on this list! It is probably the most common phobia out there but not a common one in my practice. It is one that I find fascinating, and one i cured in myself after 20 years of suffering from it. But on the whole people are scared of being cured of it as they know it then means they might (comfortably) go near spiders afterwards and just that mere thought puts them off giving it a go. But it certainly can be done and I am thankful for EFT for this alone in my case.

To finish off its only fair to share one phobia that answers the original question and I feel that its allowed as this phobia was my own. Are you ready for it? The Muppets! At some point in childhood Beaker spooked me and before i knew it just glimpsing at Bert and Ernie or Kermit made me feel sick and gave me palpitations! So there you go, when it comes to phobias anything goes. Whatever yours is, EFT is an invaluable tool and can free you from whatever it is that is adding limitations to your life.
